Supporting Sharon in her biggest running challenge

“I’ve been running since 2014 when I started with the couch to 5km and fell in love with it.  I completed my first half marathon in 2015 and have done quite a few more since then as well as triathlons.  My friend and coach, Jim, helped me achieve a lot of my results and got me back from various injuries. Now Jim needs help.”

We always like to give back to the extended gpm family. So, when our MD Sharon’s running coach and friend, Jim, suffered a terrible accident, resulting in life-changing injuries – we knew she’d rise to the challenge.

Jim has spent the last 20 years dedicating his life to the NHS as a Prosthetist and Orthotist – helping patients with the most complex spinal, orthopaedic and neurological conditions at the World-renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital near London. Following his accident, Jim now needs to raise funds for a prosthetic arm of his own. But not just any prosthetic – one that will enable him to get back to helping others.

This is where Sharon comes in. A keen runner – and inspired by Jim – Sharon set herself her biggest goal yet: to run six half marathons, in six months, topping it off with the London Marathon on 3rd October 2021 – her first ever attempt at this distance.

Needless to say, Sharon smashed it, finishing the marathon in a very impressive time of 4h 11 –  no doubt drawing much inspiration from her friend along the way.

If you’d like to show your support to this great cause, you can still donate to her fundraising page here.
