Ask Your Data: The Future of Reporting in inFOCUS

For many organisations, reporting is still a time-consuming process.

Users often rely on predefined reports or exported spreadsheets. If they need something slightly different, a new metric, a different timeframe, or a new combination of data, the process can quickly become complicated.

Requests are sent to technical teams. Data is extracted manually. Spreadsheets are built and rebuilt.

It’s slow, and it often means that people only see the information they originally asked for, rather than the insights that might actually be hidden in the data.

We believe reporting should be far simpler and we’re on a mission to make it that way!

    Turning Questions into Reports

gpm are starting a proof of concept natural language model, using our demonstration data built up over the years.

This will allow for AI capabilities within inFOCUS, so users can interrogate their data in a completely different way.

The idea being, instead of navigating complex reporting tools, users will simply be able to ask questions.

    For example:

    • “I want to see my income this month versus last or versus budget.”
    • “Show me how my teams are doing or individual brokers.”
    • “Summarise where my business is coming from and where I should be expanding.”

The system will interpret the request and generate the appropriate report instantly. In effect, reporting would become a conversation with your data.

We’re starting the proof of concept around income data. Then we will move into loss ratios, gross written premium etc

    Removing the Technical Barrier

Traditional reporting tools often require users to understand data structures, reporting fields or dashboard configuration.

This creates a barrier for many users, particularly when they only need occasional insights.

AI changes that. By allowing users to ask questions in plain language (and with helpful prompts we can provide), the complexity disappears.

People can access the information they need without needing to understand how the reporting engine works behind the scenes or rely on another internal team or supplier to provide it.

    Encouraging Exploration

When generating reports is difficult, people tend to run the same predefined reports repeatedly.

But when reporting becomes as simple as asking a question, users can explore their data more freely.

They might ask follow-up questions such as:

    • “Break that down by region.”
    • “Compare this year with last year.”
    • “Which brokers account for the majority of this activity?”

This kind of interaction will help organisations uncover patterns and insights that static reports might never reveal.

    Designed for Real Users

The insurance market generates large volumes of operational data, but accessing meaningful insight from that data can still be difficult.

By looking at integrating AI directly into inFOCUS, we are working to make reporting more intuitive and accessible for everyday users. So they can focus on what matters most – growing a successful business.

Part of the inFOCUS launch programme

We are at an early exciting stage now and busy behind the scenes training it up.

When the first phase of our AI reporting proof of concept is ready to test, we will add it to the inFOCUS Beta Programme.

We would love you to help test and refine it with us, to make sure it brings the maximum benefit.
